"Great Adventures Of Slick Rick" Sounds Recreated On Vintage Mirage Sampler By DJ A-L

June 17, 2018

In this video producer and DJ, DJ A-L recreates sounds from Slick Rick’s “Children’s Story” and “Mona Lisa” using a vintage 1980’s Ensoniq Mirage sampler and a handful of stock floppy discs.

"Over the last few years I’ve gone to great lengths to locate the original sounds used on, “The Great Adventures Of Slick Rick”. Up to this point it was not common knowledge in the producer community what equipment was used. Fortunately, I had a lot of conversations with the “OG’s” before determining that it was the stock floppy discs sounds from the Mirage that were used to create Slick Rick’s debut and self-produced record. After the research I was able to locate a Mirage locally with a handful of the factory floppy discs that were used. This video is the result of a lot of research and hard work in appreciation of a Hip Hop classic! Enjoy!!!"
